Project Black - Rock Set Sculpts & Breakdown

I am happy to share with you my contribution to "Project Black", a project at Fishlabs that unfortunately was canceled. Together with an experienced, talented and passionate team, we poured our heart into this and I hope you will like it!

I joint the team as a senior 3d environment artist few month into concept phase and was involved in finding solutions for the realization of the desired art style and worked on establishing workflows for the creation of vegetation and organic elements.

Here are the high poly models of the rock set and a brief breakdown of its creation. You can find the textured version with ingame screenshots in my other post here: https://www.artstation.com/artwork/dKq8qw
Figuring out the look of the rocks that would fit our desired art style was a bit of a challenge. Sharp and angular but not low poly looking was what we aimed for. Collaborating with concept artists Timo Kujansuu and Jongwon Park, my task was to design a small basic but versatile rock set that we could further expand if needed.
The arch, on the other hand, was more of a unique landmark that was blocked out by me for a test level in the concept phase (see the 1st image)
I've decided to split the arch up into several pieces to get more use out of it. Later some of this pieces I've finalized to be used in the game.

Needless to say, it was a team effort and I'm really proud of what we achieved together.
Sadly, we won't get the chance to make a real game out of it.
